Estate Book I, 1792-1811, page 284, Knox Co. TN Court House

In the name of God Amen, I Josiah Dodd of Knox County and State of Tennessee being perfectly in my reason, do constitute this to be my last will and testament for promise, I do will and bequeath to my beloved wife, Mary Dodd, all of my realy estate during her live, likewise all my personal estate during her widowhood or life and at ther marriage or decease,, all my estate both real and personal to be equally divided among my children, each one to have their portion of the personal estate at their marriage or coming of age, and do hereby disallow and disavow every other former will and testament, and I do appoint my beloved wife, and my two sons William Dodd and James Dodd for to be my executors to this my last will and testament for withness thereof have hereunto set my hand and seal this 15, day of December 1809.

The foregoing will and testament of Josiah Dodd deceased was produced to court for probate whereas from William Luttrell and John Luttrell two of the subscribing witnesses and thereto mad oath that they saw the said Josiah sign seal and heard him publish and declare the same to be his last will and testament that at the publishing the same he was of sound mind and perfect mind and memory to the best of their knowledge and belief from that they saw Alex Finney sign his name as a witness to same.
